OT: Seasons....

Same here cassieandnicole's mom! I'm in NW Ohio. It was 80 degrees here yesterday but it's supposed to be in the 40's on Thursday with a chance of snow flurries! YIKES! I'm not ready for snow but I do LOVE Fall.

I forgot to take my camera up to the lake (MI) this past weekend. The trees up there are gorgeous and there are leaves everywhere. We live in a newer subdivision and we don't have many trees so there aren't many leaf piles to make. My kids had so much fun diving into the big leaf piles.

I'm glad you're getting some fall weather Sheila. I assumed that since you lived in CA it was always sunny and 70. Are you in Northern CA? forums

Even here in south Texas, we are getting cooler weather and Sunday I experienced my first acorn falling. Days are in the low 80's and nights in the 60's, really Fall for Texas.
I love this time of year! Since it is not always this dramatic of a change in southern Texas, I am really enjoying this 2006 Autumn. forums

I LOVE autumn!!! It is most definitely my favorite season -- followed by winter, then spring, and finally summer (I HATE the heat!). It is still ~80 here in eastern NC, but cooler weather is right around the corner -- can't wait!!!

Fall here so far has been Grand New York City, here in Queens where I live all the leaves are starting change color. The temptures are cool at night in the 50's and 40's sometimes. The temptures during the day are in the low 70's sometimes, and most of the time the 50's and 60's. It has been gorgous so far. This weekend its surpose get very cool here and they say it will defaintly feel like FALL IS IN THE AIR. Because it will be in the 50's. We are going pumpkin and apple picking this weekend in Long Island so there will be leaves turning out there, I will try to take a pictures this weekend.

No, it can get cold; especially where I live. We are surrounded by mountains. It is usually around 40 degrees in the am and gets up to about 70-75 degrees whne we have "real" seasons. It is has been quite overcast too. It is sunny and warm most of time, which is why it is so a-typical to what we are having now. I love it though. At least my electric bill will go down now that we no longer have to run the A/C.

DH, DD, and I also went apple-picking this past Sunday afternoon in the Glen Helen area apple farms/orchards of So.California/Riverside County. It was beautiful up there, but we got rained out! HA! We did manage to get some great fresh apple squeezed cider, but the kids drank it up already! forums

September has been amazingly warm with occassional temperatures up to 82F, and October has been fairly warm too (68F), although some areas have had first night frosts these past days. I guess St. Peter tried to make up for the cold and wet August, which we actually missed as we enjoyed the heat wave on our US trip.

The leaves haven't changed much yet in our area, although you do glimpse an occassional yellow touch. The ice cream parlors closed on the last weekend of September and the "Maronibrater" (chestnut roasters) opened their stalls.

When driving home from work this evening I noticed for the first time this autumn that our Siberian guests, the rooks, have returned to spend the winter here. They have this route past my office and also our house to their sleeping quarters in Vienna from their daily 'work/eating' places further south. Usually around 4pm they "meet" in the park where our office is located and sit on the trees before continuing on to their sleeping areas. They are definitely a sign of the approaching winter. I don't mind as I like winter too - but for the time being I enjoy the artistic side of autumn and how he paints the country in beautiful colors.

Here's a picture for you Sheila. I took this last week, and this tree is almost bare already.
This is always the first tree on our street to change color every year, and it doesn't last long.
This is my view if I look up from my computer.
By the way....this is in Ohio.
